Residency Year Scholarship

The Teacher Residency Scholarship Program was established for CSU students enrolled in programs that meet
the standard of quality set by the New Generation of Educators Initiative (NGEI) with the support of the
S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation. The scholarship is designed to serve candidates in CSU teacher residencies and
is available to those committed to teaching in a high-need school for two years. Focus should be in teaching
English learners, earning a bilingual credential, teaching in urban or high-need schools, or supporting students
with special needs. The scholarship recognizes candidates in these groups who demonstrate a financial need
and have attributes of merit including excellent academic performance, significant personal achievements, and
community service. All potentially eligible teacher education candidates in CSU residency programs are
encouraged to apply from the following CSU campuses:
California State University, Bakersfield
California State University, Dominguez Hills
California State University, East Bay
California State University, Fullerton
Humboldt State University
California State University, Long Beach
California State University, Los Angeles
California State University, Monterey Bay
