First Generation Pre-Nursing/Nursing Scholarship (First Year Students)

Each academic year, one (1) scholarship of $12,500 will be awarded to one first year
student and (2) scholarships of $12,500 to two transfer students within the College of
Science in accordance with the criteria for selection, as follows.
• Open to first year students or transfer students who self-identify as First-Generation
• Students must have financial need and be eligible to file a FAFSA (Free Application
for Federal Student Aid) or a CADAA (California Dream Act Application)
• Open to students from all majors who are accepted to Stan State with a pre-nursing
designation or are accepted into the BSN program
• For first year students, must graduate from a public or private high school in
Stanislaus or Merced Counties and have a minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA
• For transfer students, must transfer from a community college located in either
Stanislaus or Merced Counties, have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, 60 transferable
units and be accepted into the BSN program.
• For a first-year student, could be renewable for up to 4 years or for a transfer
student could be renewable up to 2 years, if the student maintains a minimum 3.5
GPA, and is on track to complete pre-nursing or BSN requirements. The scholarship
renewal will be on an annual basis.
• Preference for students who speak more than one language.
